The only "solution" I was given was to record a dummy run manually before you ever record any actual runs. That dummy run will be 000, then your first actual run will start with 001.

Yeah, I think I posted on the SCCAForums that the magnetic material mount is a better (CHEAPER) solution. But I'm going to continue with my suction cup mount as I have $50 invested in it.

I went down the suction cup $$ road until I saw the best/cheapest solution of all......magnetic material (like many people use for car numbers)

Just cut about a 5 x 10 inch piece and velcro the MQG ...

Before you go to a race track, test your setup by driving round-and-round a traffic circle. That's a good test for your set ...

The software is designed to do that. It's a "feature". Read through the manual and you'll find out why.
