|The best way to charge the Quantum is to turn it off and use a standalone car charger or wall charger capable of supplying at least 5V 400 mA. It then takes about 4 hours to completely charge a dead battery.
You can also charge the Quantum off of a USB port, but you might have to wait as long as 12 hours to get a complete charge, because the USB may not deliver sufficient current for a faster charge. It is also possible that your USB port will refuse to charge the Quantum, so you will need to test it and verify that it works. We do not recommend charging from an unpowered USB hub.
If the Quantum is turned on while charging, the battery may charge very slowly, or it may not charge at all. It might even discharge, especially if you are using a USB port for charging.
The Quantum uses a standard mini-USB connection for charging. The red light on the Quantum indicates that the charging circuit is receiving power from the charger, but it does not technically mean that the battery is charging. When the red light goes out, this means either the battery is charged or the charger stopped delivering power before the battery charge was complete. On a full charge, the Quantum should run for 6 to 8 hours.
