I've read through much of the MQGPS instruction and even followed the tutorial on my PC - saw sever different display screen for the in-car flight software, but did not see if real time speed could be displayed along with lap and lap time. is this possible?

Yes, the lap time display now also shows MPH. The manual has not yet been changed to reflect this, but it is mentioned in the release notes (see the entry for version 2.7b, dated February 26, 2008).

That is now an option in the software.

Thanks, I didn't see that. I had my PDA (it's the Asus) in landscape mode, and there appears to be a UI bug that prevents the bottom 2 rows of options in advanced settings from showing.
